Healthcare Reform: Business owners nearly lost it all

MANATEE COUNTY (Bay News 9)... Two years ago, Laszlo was diagnosed with heart disease and told he needed surgery or would die. Unfortunately, he had no health insurance. Laszlo is a diabetic and says he can't find anyone to insure him because of the pre-existing condition.

"I don't want anybody going through this," Laszlo Szilagyi said. "It's very hard to get up with two small boys and tell them I'm not going to be here."

The Szilagyis says they asked for assistance from hospitals and even Medicaid but were denied.

Thanks to the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, Laszlo was able to get the heart surgery he needed to survive.
