Elizabeth, a Nigerian-born U.S. citizen and mother of six, was shocked to learn that the painful swelling in her legs was a symptom of heart failure. Coronary artery disease was a possible cause for her swollen legs; she would need to undergo a catheterization and stenting. Dr. Joel Rosenberg performed the catheterization at George Washington University Medical Center and gave Elizabeth a Medtronic pacemaker. Because she was unable to work and had no insurance, LKCF helped fund this procedure. Elizabeth says, “I would like to thank Larry and all of my doctors who were so very nice to me. Now I can get back to doing the things I love.”
